What is Power Factor? Most homes and businesses receive and consume energy at a very
inefficient rate (75% to 90% is typical). Power factor is the relationship between usable and
non-productive electricity. It is also a measure of how efficiently electricity is being
converted into useful work output. The KEC unit uses custom-sized capacitance to improve
power factor to near "unity" (100% efficiency) which lowers the amps you draw
